When it Comes to Hypertension Salt reduction is Still a Major World Message

The world Salt and Health Action (WASH) was established in 2005 and is a global group whose mission is to promote better health among people around the world through education and s seeks to achieve a gradual reduction in salt intake. WASH play an active role in promoting the big multi-national food companies to reduce salt in their products and work with governments, health authorities and other organizations promoting health, stressing the need for the nation and the global strategies to reduce population salt.

WASH has 361 members in 80 countries. Its members are mainly experts in the field of hypertension, but many others have roles and professions, each member is dedicated to promoting the reduction of salt in their country. WASH and its members are the driving forces of the Week for the global awareness of salt, a salt in the world of education and reduction in 2009, an initiative which was entitled "Salt and Eating Out" and specifically focusing on awareness of salt in the take-away, restaurant and on the road food.

It has been known for people to say that salt is salt in a dependency even though itself is not addictive in the true sense of the word, but the body may create a craving or taste for foods high in salt. When you eat a high salt diet, the taste buds are conditioned to this and then only then tend to react strongly to savory meals. Psychological as attachments can and this is where the term "addiction" (although not always accurate) becomes most relevant. This could explain why so many people become addicted to love fast food like McDonald's and go, such as pizzas and kebabs.

World Health Organization (WHO) plays a very important role in education and reducing the salt and states that the daily intake of salt should not be more than five grams. In fact, according to Dr David Spence, director of the Stroke Prevention and the Arthrosclerosis Research Center at the Robarts Research Institute, Ontario, United States, the human body needs only half a gram of salt per day [1].

As we all know, too much salt is extremely harmful to the human body and nutrition of salt have been linked to an increased risk of stomach cancer, osteoporosis, asthma, and in particular the high blood pressure, among other physical implications. The fact is that reducing your salt intake could save your life and reduce your chances of developing serious chronic illness or condition.

The links between salt and hypertension (high pressure) in particular, are well known and documented, which is why people with hypertension tend to be cautious on the subject, and also cautious on the levels of salt they consume in their diet. This group of sensitive condition suffering from hypertension are also more likely to control their blood pressure at regular intervals based on blood pressure.

The use of blood pressure at home is increasingly popular among people with hypertension because it allows for greater consistency and an accurate reading and can help the person to see the effects of persistence with treatment and lifestyle changes in the state and the pressure more tangible.
