MRSA Compensation Claims

MRSA is a virus that has had a lot of coverage in the news over the last few years, as greater numbers of people have begun to contract it in hospital. As a result the number of incidences where a compensation claim has been lodged by victims of the virus has risen dramatically. MRSA comes from the staph bacteria, which lives on the skin. It is ironic that the bacteria can in fact only exist on the skin of healthy people, so those that are healthy are more likely to contract MRSA. The staph bacteria also live in the nose. If the staph bacteria enter the system it will cause infection. Most of the time this is only minor, and can lead to various small side effects, which are unlikely to even be noticed by the patient. However, there is a stronger strain of the bacteria than can cause worse systems once in the system, and this can lead to the virus MRSA. The drug methicillin is used to treat the infection, but often there are bacteria that are resident to it, and this means that the patient has unfortunately contracted MRSA. Despite the fact that the virus has had so much media attention, it is in fact only an infection and people should therefore not die from it. People have died, however, and this has led thousands of people to sue their local health authorities on behalf on family members who have contracted the disease and died. The fact that in the twenty first century healthy people should not die from the infection has been well documented. People have a right to sue because experts have pointed out that if hospitals were kept as clean as they should be the staph bacteria would not be able to survive. This is seen as medical negligence by a large number of people, including those in charge of deciding whether medical lawsuits will be successful or not. It is seen as a reason to sue the hospital in question, in that they failed to carry out their duties to keep the wards clean for the patients. --MRSA is a virus that has had a lot of coverage in the news over the last few years, as greater numbers of people have begun to contract it in hospital.
